Rat Nerd?

nərd/
noun

informal
plural noun: nerds
  1. a foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious.

“one of those nerds who never asked a girl to dance”
    synonyms: bore; More

“the nerds running the world’s technology are certainly getting the last laugh”

    • a single-minded expert in a particular technical field.

      “a computer nerd”

I am not sure I agree with the above definition of “Nerd”… especially after I picked up Harry in Somerville. Ok so at first look you might assume Harry was a legit Nerd…  works at MIT and yes… into computers!  Harry however has developed an unusal passion that might take him off the Nerd track.

Don’t ask me how we got onto the subject of rats, but if you know me… you know I can get people to open up, afterall… I am a sales guy! In any case we start talking about Harry’s passion for rats, but it’s not what you might think, you see, Harry has a passion for catching rats (which if you are familiar with mouse traps… the outcome is not great for the mouse and in this case the rats too)!  I guess last winter Harry noticed lots of rat prints in the snow around his neighborhood so, he decided it was his mission to wipe out the local rat population.  Harry started setting up traps around the paths he noticed the rats were taking…

Fast forward to Spring and the results of Harry’s hard work were quite impressive.  He says he caught and killed over 50 rats!  Now he appears to be a bit bummed as he now only puts out rat poison (due to the nice weather… traps are uncool) and no longer finds the results of his hard work.  BUT, there is a bright side as he has noticed that the poison show signs that the few remaining rats have been nibbling, unfortunately for Harry, he never finds the end result.  Harry looks forward to next winter where he can start setting up his traps again.

Long story short: I started with Lyft (4) years ago as a sabbatical from enterprise B2B sales. I did not like Lyft for some of their policies and the way they ran their business so, I switched to Uber which I prefer for many reasons. I have found driving for Uber in Boston to be one of the most engaging gigs I have ever experienced.
